If you have any queries at all then please contact:

  • the MAPP Clerk, Ms Murray at Morgan Academy - Gloria.murray@dundeecity.gov.uk

Matters arising
  • Unfortunately no members from the group were able to attend the P7 Parent evening on the 19 November.
  • J Reilly is to attend the half yearly AGM for the FP’s on the 15 December.
  • J Reilly was contacted by Mrs Hall re Parent Support Evening although there was not a large turn out to this further discussion was held with regards to how to inform parents in the future – eg post, text, e-mail, internet(GLOW) website etc
  • F Kelbie investigated funding that may be available for the Easter Study school - but as the criteria for the grant was not for curriculum based study this would not be suitable. F Kelbie is to do further investigation to 3 trusts and also contact Grants for Schools.
  • J Reilly is to invite T Jamieson to come along to talk to the new parents of the group, at an informal meeting on 19 Jan 2010

Awards for all Report

Shelly Booth explained about the equipment that the Grant money (£7,628) would be spent on.  At the moment there was a question of where the equipment would be sited as everyone felt that it would be difficult to manage within Morgan Academy school grounds.

After much discussion it was agreed that everyone felt that it might be better sighted at the DISC although this will be discussed and investigated further.

It was suggested that a Lunch time or after school club could be set up by the new sports co-ordinator (Jane Dunlop).  There was also a question if this was handed over to the community there may be a possibility of applying for further funding from the cluster Support Team.

The MAPP members are now happy to step back and act as a support only to this venture and allow all further discussions and decisions to be made by J Dunlop (sports co-ordinator) S Gossip (PE Principal teacher), the Pupil Council and S Shaw (Rector)

Rector Report

  • Parents Newsletter to be posted out next week
  • Everyone welcome to the Carol Service on Monday 14 7.30pm (helpers requested)
  • After much discussion within the school a traditional Christmas Service will be held on the last day of the term although there will be an alternative activity available.
  • Mr Shaw requested that the group to look at the Improvement Plan so to suggest ways of simplifying the language to make it user friendly for other parents, as he hoped this would be available for the parents by mid February.
  • The school is to look at introducing a travel plan/routes to school/parking type policy.  This will be added to a future agenda for further discussion.

5. Pupil report

As David and Natalie were only guests at the meeting - no report was available.

6. Parent Report

J Reilly has been sent Survey monkey to fill in with regards to the possible change to the holiday dates.

Concern was raised as to problems that parents would have with child care if the dates were to be changed and if the reply was to be as an individual or a group, J Reilly to find out more details from T Jamieson, then inform the group by e-mail.

T Jamieson asked if the group required a MAPP e-mail address to be set up, we were not sure how this would work and J Reilly will discuss further with T Jamieson.

7. Future Dates of meetings

Tuesday 09.02.10

Tuesday 23.03.10

Tuesday 11.05.10

Tuesday 15.06.10

8. Any other business

G Murray spoke of the training session for Chair, treasures and Clerks that she and I Waghorn attended; they both felt that this was very useful and informative.  There is to be similar training session in the future.

To encourage more new members it was suggest that MAPP produce a Parent News letter highlighting the forthcoming Coffee Morning to be held as a joint effort with the FP’s and other details eg holiday dates/new policy/Awards for All etc.

All future meetings all parents to enter Morgan Academy by the front door where the 2 pupil member to meet and greet.
